2 months, 4 weeks agoEstimating Rank Based on Percentile
Your JEE Main rank can be estimated using the formula:
Rank ≈ (100 – Percentile) × (Total number of candidates) / 100
For instance, if you scored 98.0 percentile and 12 lakh students took the exam, your approximate rank would be:
(100 – 98) × 12,00,000 / 100 = 24,000
However, this is a rough estimate—the actual rank may vary slightly depending on tie-breakers and normalization.
Expected Rank Range for Different Percentiles (2024 Trends)
99.9+ percentile: Top 100 ranks (elite colleges like NIT Trichy CSE, IIIT Hyderabad)99.5 percentile: Around 500–1,000 rank (top NITs for CSE/ECE)
99.0 percentile: 1,000–3,000 rank (good NITs and IIITs)
98.0 percentile: 5,000–10,000 rank (mid-tier NITs for ECE/EEE)
95.0 percentile: 20,000–50,000 rank (lower NITs or state colleges)
90.0 percentile: 50,000–1,00,000 rank (private colleges or state quotas)
